Global container board demand changes

Relevant data show that the current global packaging business value reached 400 billion US dollars, of which boxboard accounted for 20% of packaging materials sales. It is estimated that by 2005, the global container board demand will reach 10.93 million tons, while the North American and European market demand will be 3.4 million tons and 4.3 million tons respectively. In addition, the fastest growing global demand for carton boxes is in the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America, with an average growth rate of 4%. It is estimated that by 2010, the consumption of Asian cardboard will reach 40 million tons, making it the world's leading market.
Experts believe that food packaging is the main growth driver for corrugated cartons, especially in developed countries such as the United States. In economically underdeveloped areas, cartons are mainly used for export food packaging.
